Wedding bells for Manisha Koirala

Wedding bells for Manisha Koirala
Bollywood star Manisha Koirala's wedding this Friday is all set to be a grand affair with invitees list including President, Prime Minister, Maoist chief Prachanda and former king Gyanendra.

The 41-year-old Bollywood star, best known for her films like 'Saudagar', 'Dil Se' and 'Bombay', is set to tie the knot with businessman Samrat Dahal, seven years younger to her, in a traditional ceremony near the Nepalese capital.

The wedding ceremony will be a low-key affair with 150 guests and close family friends attending the event, which will be off-limits for the media.

Invites have been sent to President Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Maoist chief Prachanda and other senior political leaders on the occasion. Former King Gyanendra and his spouse Komal Shah have also been invited for the wedding.

From Bollywood, Manisha's friend Govinda and others are expected to attend the ceremony.

Grand daughter of first elected Prime Minister of Nepal B P Koirala, Manisha and Dahal, 34, will marry in a 'Swayambar' at the luxurious Gokarna Forest Resort, some 10kms east of the capital, according to family sources.

Dahal, who comes from a business family of Kathmandu, has just returned from the US after completing Masters Degree in Microbiology.

However, the reception, to be held at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu will be grand and 3,000 cards have been distributed for the same.

The marriage, which comes two months after the demise of Girija Prasad Koirala, will bring happiness to the Koirala family and Manisha's parents Prakash and Sushila Koirala will host all the ceremonies.

Manisha and Dahal have been seeing each other over the past year and their wedding date was fixed by an astrologer a few months ago.

The actress has evaded marriage over the years and broke off two engagements in the past.

She was reportedly engaged to ex-Australian ambassador to Nepal Crispin Conroy in 2001, but broke up with him soon. Last year too, the grapevine was abuzz that Manisha will wed American speaker and author Christopher Dorris, but that relationship too ended.

Shoaib Malik seek Rs 35 million for wedding reception rights

Shoaib Malik with Sania Mirza
Lahore: Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has reportedly demanded a whopping Rs 35 million for the rights to cover his Wedding Reception and ‘walima’ ceremony in his hometown Sialkot after his wedding to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Shoaib asked his private security guards to keep the media away from both ceremonies as none of the TV news channels had agreed to cough up the huge amount demanded by the cricketer and any deal was not yet struck, a TV channel reported.

The channel claimed it had obtained an invitation card for the ‘walima’ to be hosted by Shoaib in Lahore’s Pearl Continental Hotel on April 27 by paying Rs 10,000 (about $125) to a relative of the cricketer. On the other hand, the administration of Pearl Continental Hotel has asked journalists to leave the premises. Dozens of reporters, especially those from TV news channels, have been thronging the hotel since the couple arrived there two days ago. “The hotel administration took the step on behalf of Shoaib,” a journalist claimed.

Shaoib has already requested the government of Punjab province to provide the couple and his guests from India “foolproof ” security. Shoaib and his brother-in-law Imran Zafar have criticised the media after Sania and her mother Nasima Mirza were jostled and pushed by an unruly crowd after reaching the Pearl Continental Hotel. The incident brought tears to Sania’s eyes. “Please spare us,” was the request from both Shoaib and Zafar. “For God’s sake, leave us alone. You are trying to fix cameras in our rooms,” an angry Zafar shouted at the media.

Before leaving for Sialkot, Shoaib, Sania and her parents and relatives visited the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajvary Data Ganj Bakhsh and offered prayers. Meanwhile, Sialkot district police chief Waqar Ahmed Chohan said an official order on serving only one dish at wedding receptions will be enforced in letter and spirit. “We will not allow even Shaoib to violate the ban,” he said. The Punjab government introduced the one-dish rule for weddings and receptions last year as part of a series of austerity measures. PTI

Wedding Bells for Dino Morea

Dino Morea Wedding
Dino is firmly back with Nandita, and this time it could be for keeps. There’s word that the couple are looking to tie the knot sometime this year. But what drove Dino back to old flame Nandita, whom he started dating after his relationship with Bipasha Basu fizzled out? Though he doesn’t speak about it on the record, the actor has told his friends that he felt deeply betrayed when Lara Dutta tried to pass off their relationship as just another friendship. “Dino was very hurt. He then realized how much Nandita meant to him and he wanted her back. They have been working to heal their relationship for a year now. This time, he is determined to make it last forever.”

When asked about the rocky road he’s encountered in his romantic life, Dino replied, “Who says I am unlucky in love? I have the loveliest woman in my life. And yes, when the time is right, we’ll get married. But until then, I wish people wouldn’t set dates for my Wedding Plans. When it happens, I’ll invite the whole industry.”

Backless Kareena Kapoor

Backless Kareena Kapoor
Kareena Kapoor says there is nothing "vulgar" about her backless shot being used for the publicity posters of forthcoming release "Kurbaan", Kareena and Saif Ali Khan in Kurbaan intense thriller about terrorism. In fact, she says, it subtly reveals a lot about the story.

"This shot of me in a backless posture and Saif with a wound on his chest tell so much about the film's theme," Kareena told IANS. "There is love, passion and violence - all combined in here and what better way than to show it through a single still? You too would agree that there is nothing sleazy or vulgar about it. Knowing the sensibilities of Karan Johar (producer) and Rensil D'Silva (director), that's the least one could have expected," she added.

Kareena said that after Geet in "Jab We Met", her character of Avantika in "Kurbaan" will make people sit up and take notice. "The girl's role has a lot of edge in 'Kurbaan', something which starts becoming more and more visible as the film unfolds. In any case the film is not one of those cliched love stories. Every character has quite a few layers to it and Avantika, the character I play, is no exception. She is quite pivotal to 'Kurbaan'," she said.

Kareena plays a professor in "Kurbaan" who gets married to her colleague, played by Saif Ali Khan. They move to New York after marriage, but as a series of events unfold she finds herself into a vortex of danger and intrigue. She further realizes that she is a pawn in a huge game and no one could be trusted. "What made this role special is the fact that I play this young beautiful professor who is quite normal. She reacts to terrorism for the first time and life is never the same again for her," she said.

"Actually if you ask me, then technically 'Kurbaan' is the story of this girl. She is the light of the screen. I am sure people will cry with Avantika...so strong is her characterization," the actress said. After "Jab We Met", Kareena was seen in "Main Aurr Mrs Khanna", "Kambakkth Ishq", "Tashan" and "Golmaal Returns". And except "Golmaal Returns", none of the films did well at the box office.

Kareena is delighted about the prospects of audiences seeing her in a different light after the film and says it is not a frothy romance drama. "'Kurbaan' has a deep-rooted love story to it, but it is not a frothy romantic film that we are time and again exposed to. The love story is much deeper here. There is a definite meaning, purpose and reason to it. Also, the film is quite powerful in its own way since it's the voice of moderate Islam," she said. The film, which also stars Vivek Oberoi, Om Puri, Kirron Kher and Dia Mirza, is releasing Nov 20.

Pamela Anderson in Bankruptcy

Pamela Anderson in Bankruptcy
`Baywatch` Hot Beauty Pamela Anderson has revealed that it was her decision to tile her swimming pool with platinum that led her to Bankruptcy.

The 42-year-old blonde bombshell has spoken for the first time about the huge debts she has been left with after splurging on a dream home, reported Daily Mail online.

The former Playboy model has been forced to move into a trailer park and she now fears that will have to sell the semi-constructed beach house.

"I am USD 3million over budget and I should have moved in over a year ago. I`m tiling the whole pool in platinum, that`s expensive!," she said.

The star revealed that she sobs whenever she visits the house, because she put her heart into it`s construction.

"I`m going to sell it. I hate it. People commit suicide over constructions. Relationships break down over constructions and I can see why. It rips your heart out," said Anderson who shares her trailer with her electrician boyfriend Jamie Padgett, 42, and her two sons Brandon, 13, and Dylan, 11.

She reportedly has just USD 4,000 in the bank and needs to spend at least USD 800,000 more to make the house habitable.
